Around orchards and vegetable gardens
Corsica is perhaps best known as being a land of citrus fruits.
Including its flagship product the Clementine, which benefits from an PGI guaranteeing its quality, its origin and its freshness. Other fruits complete the range (pink grapefruit, kumquats, orange, lemon, etc.)
But, the island's climate, the richness of the agricultural land and the geological diversity are also conducive to many other types of produce such as summer fruits (peaches, nectarines, apricots, etc.), dried fruits (hazelnuts, almonds), plums, apples, figs, etc.
Likewise, market garden produce benefits from this favourable environment. In addition, farmers practise integrated farm management, which is sometimes certified as organic.
Formerly grown varieties are experiencing a revival such as the Cap Corse onion, whose taste and long life give it originality and distinctiveness.
