Sporty-looking Jean-Pierre Antonetti circulates with ease amongst his herds of animals. Not surprising for this one-time professional footballer! "That career certainly had its attractions, he confides. But I had received an education linked to the rural world that was modest but authentic. That was what I wanted."
From his grandparents and his shepherd uncle, Jean-Pierre learned the basics of working the land. When an opportunity offered itself in 2009, he didn't hesitate for a moment: he took on a farm with sheep and goats. "Business has been far from easy, admits the farmer shyly. But the challenge had to be taken up. Today more than 200 animals live here on nearly 100 hectares and provide us with the milk we need to make our cheese. It is a piece of Corsica that I will be proud to be able to pass on to my children!"
In the meantime, Jean-Pierre does not lack support and benefits from mutual help among family members for the various productions. Far from the hullabaloo of football stadiums and after all that frantic running, the 41-year-old man has aspirations of living in a world at a more leisurely pace, anchored more in life’s simple values. More than a way of life, a true philosophy!
