Five thousand years before Étienne Andreani and his wife Juliette, Neolithic men had already chosen the region of Filitosa to settle down in. This area was bathed in sunshine and overlooked the bay of Porto-Pollo, ideal land for cultivation.

It was with the same conviction and common sense that Étienne Andreani decided, some thirty years ago, to revive a centuries-old olive grove. “We have restored the olive grove, trimmed the trees, planted new olive trees, installed a modern and efficient mill...” The Sardelle mill was the result of this diligent and tenacious work. The reputation of their mellow and fruity olive oil quickly spread across the border of Taravo-Valinco.

“Today the quality of our olive oil is recognised. People know how about the value of our olive oil and how serious we are about it,” they say. A few years ago, the couple decided to share the magic of the place with people by creating two pretty gites in the middle of their olive grove. “People come here to experience the beauty and peace of this place. It also represents an opportunity for us to raise awareness about our oil and our business.” Newly retired, Étienne has now entrusted his wife with the keys of the Sardelle estate, but we doubt he’ll ever be far away!
