“When you make your own wine, each step must be optimised: a low yield for maximum concentration; long maceration and ageing on fine lees for 18 months to achieve a maturing that will result in wines conveying the full complexity of the Corsican terroir.” It is in the image of this precise technical explanation that Richard and Marjorie Spurr have developed together the vineyard situated on the Calvi hills. For this couple of exacting qualified oenologists with much wine-making experience, the two elements for fertile harmonious production are character and the human aspect.

“Above all, you must understand the expression of your farm through your wine and try not to be interventionist”, explains Richard. The human aspect is their contact with other wine-growers in the region and the encouragement that they received when they established themselves here. “This exchange, this commitment to mutual help, is essential”, says Marjorie, before concluding: “In Corsica there is an energy that comes from Nature, which we are looking to convey in our wines. ”

Since 2007, with the creation of L’Enclos des Anges, Richard and Marjorie have added new tastes and perspectives to the PDO Corse-Calvi!
