The Courrèges family’s island wine-making story began in Corsica in the 60s. Having arrived from Algeria where they already grew their own vines, they set down their suitcases and their barrels at Porto Pollo. But Alain Courrèges did not immediately follow his father’s furrow: “I was an industrial technician and I went to work in mainland France for a few years before coming back to Corsica, Porticcio specifically”. But Alain’s father wanted his operation to last and asked his son to join him. “I found myself in charge of a vineyard without really knowing the trade. 

“Through hard work and willpower, the job at hand became clearer and Alain’s knowledge more precise, until he was finally able to fill a pair of winemaker’s boots with pride. Now, if the Domaine Vacelli is renowned for the quality of its organic wine (non-certified organic crop), it’s thanks to this pertinacity… but also the presence of Gérard, his son, who has been by his side for almost 15 years. “Wine growing was a choice  my son made, an obvious choice even. After his oenology studies he took over the winemaking, and now he’s the boss! ” concludes Alain Courrèges proudly.
